Broome Beach Bash Set for Saturday

Cole Park will be transformed this Saturday, August 27th, for Broome County’s first-ever Beach Bash. This free event will begin at 2:00 PM with swimming, boating, beach games, face painting, a slip-n-slide, and bounce house. Live music begins at 3:00, featuring A Country Mile followed by Odd Man Out. At dusk, Parks staff will light fire pits across the beach where visitors can relax and roast marshmallows for s’mores while enjoying entertainment by illusionist David Black. When the stars come out, Cole Park will be lit up with a fireworks show over the water!

Food vendors will be on site serving hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, funnel cakes, ice cream, Italian ice, and lemonade; the Cole Park concession stand will be open for additional food options, but visitors are also encouraged to take advantage of the park’s 70 grills by bringing their own charcoal, lighters, and food to cook. Additionally, Beer Tree will host a beer garden where anyone over the age of 21 can purchase and enjoy drinks.

On-site parking is free, and BC Transit is offering free rides to Beach Bash from the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton. A bus will depart the Arena at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, & 7:30; busses will return from Cole Park at 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00, & 9:00. For those arriving with their own vehicle, drivers should be prepared for heavy traffic exiting the park; Broome Security will be on hand to direct vehicles in and out. Dogs are permitted, on a leash, in all areas of the park except the beach; owners must clean up after their pets. All Broome County parks are smoke-free, except in designated areas; drones as well as remote controlled boats and cars are also prohibited.
