Vaccination Law

State law requires and all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets  to be vaccinated against rabies by the time they are 4 months of age (they can be vaccinated at 3 months of age - but no younger than that). The law also requires all dogs in New York State to be licensed by the time they are 4 months of age and that license must be renewed each year - in order to license you must have a current rabies vaccination for your dog. This went into effect on November 20, 2002.
