Broome County Job Opportunity
Office for Aging Intern

Office for Aging / Temporary

Pay Rate: Unpaid
Undergraduate college student Must enjoy interacting with older people; some computer skills helpful; outgoing personality

This internship is supervised jointly by Caregiver Services and Information and Assistance (I&A), units within the Broome County Office for Aging. Unlike many health and human service-related internships, which may emphasize clerical duties, this program offers students extensive opportunities for direct client interaction. Besides writing articles and updating or creating brochures, the intern may be able to participate in assessing clients’ needs in the community setting, and in helping clients to navigate available resources by collaborating with various health and social service professionals within this highly multidisciplinary department. The position is flexible in terms of overall length and weekly time commitment. Applicants should be comfortable with self-directed work, enjoy working with seniors, and be enthusiastic about addressing the challenges of eldercare in our aging society.
