Motor Equipment Operator (Heavy)
Town of Barker Highway / Full-time / 40 hrs/wk M-F Winter M-Th Summer
Pay Rate: $22.98/hr

Looking for a career-minded CDL Class B or Class A truck driver for road construction and winter snow plowing. Heavy equipment experience a plus. Applicant must be able to perform minor mechanical repairs on trucks and equipment. Applicant must have a 20 to 30 minute arrival time to Highway Garage. Random drug and alcohol testing required. Applicant will be responsible to work alone as well as with others and able to follow simple direction from their superior. Applicant must be physically able to lift, pull, push, carry, etc. items weighing 25lbs+. Applicants will be responsible for operating and maintaining small motor machines as well as large motor equipment. Applicants will be tasked with both minor and major tasks and expected to complete such tasks in a timely manner. For more information regarding this position, contact the Town of Barker Highway.

Broome County is seeking an experienced professional engineer to serve as the Department of Public Works Deputy Commissioner of Engineering. The Deputy Commissioner is responsible for supervising the County engineering staff who manage the design and construction of all Broome County engineering projects under the jurisdiction of Public Works. Additionally, this position consults with and advises the Commissioner, Budget Director, and other County officials in determining which capital and non-recurring repairs and replacement projects best meet the needs of the County.
The successful candidate must possess NYS PE license, and thorough knowledge of civil engineering practices and principles, with preferred experience in both design and construction administration. A good working knowledge of budgeting and financial record keeping, personnel administration, supervision, and administrative practices and controls are critical. The candidate must possess the ability to work cooperatively and effectively communicate with department staff, other department managers, and members of the public.
