Mark R. Whalen (D) represents residents of the East and South Sides of the City of Binghamton. He formerly represented residents in the city's 3rd legislative district for one term and has subsequently served constituents in Binghamton's 1st legislative district since 1992. 

 

During his career as a county lawmaker, Mr. Whalen has served as the Chairman of the Legislature during the 2007-2008 term and has chaired the Transportation and Personnel Committees. He has also served as a member of the following committees: Community and Social Services; County Administration, Economic Development and Planning; Finance; Health Services; Intergovernmental Relations; and Public Safety and Emergency Services.

 

Mr. Whalen is an Assistant Chief with the City of Binghamton's Fire Department and is also a NYS certified paramedic.
