Social engagement refers to connections through community involvement and participation in activities with other people. Older adults living in Broome County are at risk of social isolation due to the vast number of people living alone and those who live in rural areas. We encourage you to actively plan ways to remain socially engaged.

  • Call Office for Aging and set up transportation services so you can get out and be around other people
  • Attend activities, programs, and meals at a senior center
  • If you are a caregiver, attend a caregiver chat or support group
  • Find a volunteer opportunity where you can feel good about helping out and interacting with people

If you have questions about services or how to get involved, call the Office for Aging at 778-2411.
