Southern Tier Land Conservancy

Established in 2020, the Southern Tier Land Conservancy (STLC) is a charitable, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to serving and restoring land in perpetuity throughout Broome County and beyond.

STLC's mission is to benefit the communities of the Southern Tier -- particularly those in Broome and Tioga Counties -- through the conservation of the lands and waters of the region. Through their actions and by working in collaboration with community partners, they seek to ensure lasting and healthy ecosystems, sustainable heritage practices, scenic vistas, clean water, recreational opportunities, quality community life, and wild places.

STLC's goals include:

  • Managing and restoring wildlife habitat and biodiversity

  • Protecting and improving water quality

  • Supporting and maintaining sustainable heritage practices such as farming, woodland harvesting, hunting, and fishing

  • Conserving forest and wetland habitats to increase flood resilience

  • Providing access to nature close to home for all the residents of the region

  • Aiding regional climate resilience for our communities through the protection of local resources, open green space, and natural areas
