Flu Shots Available at Participating Broome County Senior Centers
Influenza, commonly called “the flu”, is more than just a bad cold. The flu is a very contagious virus that can cause symptoms such as fever, chills, body aches, sore throat, cough, and headache. People age 65+ and those with chronic health conditions are more at-risk for developing complications, which include sinus or ear infections, pneumonia, sepsis, hospitalization and even death.
The best way to protect yourself is to get vaccinated every year. The flu shot is safe, effective, and cannot give you the flu. The Broome County Office for Aging and Price Chopper are sponsoring flu clinics at the following senior centers during the month of October:
10/7 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm Broome West Senior Center, 2801 Wayne St., Endwell
10/8 from 10:00 – 11:30 am First Ward Senior Center, 226 Clinton St., Binghamton
10/11 from 9:30 – 11:00 am Eastern Broome Senior Center, 27 Golden Ln., Harpursville
10/15 from 10:30 – 11:30 am Vestal Senior Center, 201 Main St., Vestal
10/17 from 9:30 – 11:00 am Northern Broome Senior Center, 12 Strongs Pl., Whitney Point
10/23 from 10:00 – 11:30 am Johnson City Senior Center, 30 Brocton St., Johnson City
10/25 from 10:00 – 11:30 am North Shore Towers Community Center, 24 Isbell St., Binghamton
Please bring your Medicare or insurance card with you. If you do not have Medicare or health insurance, the price for a private pay flu shot is $30. For additional information, please consult with your healthcare provider or the Broome County Health Department at (607) 778-2839.
