Attendance At Broome County's Parks Doubles With Removal Of Admission Fee

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive, Jeff Kraham announced today that attendance figures at three of the County's Parks doubled in June 2004 when compared with June 2003. Parks Department records indicate that in June 2003, 40,464 people visited Nathaniel Cole Park in the Town of Colesville, Greenwood Park in the Town of Nanticoke and Dorchester Park in the Town of Triangle. 80,699 people attended these parks in June 2004.
"This growth in attendance at our parks shows that a wider segment of the community is enjoying the great park system Broome County has to offer," said the County Executive. "Once again residents and visitors alike can enjoy a day of affordable family fun at one of our many beautiful parks," said Mr. Kraham.
All county parks are open from 8:00 a.m. until dark daily through Labor Day, September 6th. Swimming, boating, picnicking, hiking and many other activities are available at many of the parks. Please call the Department of parks and Recreation at 607.778.2193 for specific park information.
