Broome County to Provide Security for Kirkwood Town Court

(TOWN OF KIRKWOOD, NY) Starting October 2nd, Broome County Security Division will be providing security services during court sessions within the Town of Kirkwood through an intermunicipal shared services agreement.

“Kirkwood Supervisor Gordon Kniffen was a big part of our Shared Services Panel last year and it’s great to see how he’s looking to Broome County to help provide much needed security services in his town court,” said Jason Garnar, Broome County Executive.

The Town of Kirkwood inquired about hiring Broome Security Division to provide security services within the town court. Over the past few months, Supervisor Kniffen and Director of Broome Security Division James Dadamio worked together to match security services to meet the needs of the Town of Kirkwood Court. Dadamio then met with Supervisor Kniffen, Judge Hawkes and Judge Coe to develop operational processes for Broome Security Officers to follow while assigned within the Town of Kirkwood Court.

“Ensuring safety and security within our local Town and Village courts can be a challenge and we are proud of our newly created partnership with the Town of Kirkwood.  I believe that this shared service agreement could become a model for other Town and Village courts with similar needs,” said Dadamio.

Any criminal act, which occurs in the Town of Kirkwood, is initially under the jurisdiction of Kirkwood Town Court.

The court’s arraignment times for criminal and vehicle and traffic charges are Tuesday and Thursday at 10AM and 4PM. The Town of Kirkwood Court is located at 70 Crescent Dr., Kirkwood, NY 13795.
