Update on Upper Lisle Road Bridge Project

The Broome County Department of Public Works announced today an update with the Upper Lisle Road Bridge project in the Town of Triangle. The bridge was scheduled to be opened on Friday, Sept. 28, however, due to necessary repairs uncovered by cleaning of the bridge, the opening has been postponed until Oct. 26, 2018.

The bridge has been closed since July 16.

All local traffic will need to seek alternate routes while the bridge is closed. Please plan your travel accordingly.

The Upper Lisle Road Bridge is a steel truss bridge that currently has paint that is peeling and exposing the steel to rust. If this is not corrected, the corrosion will continue and eventually require bridge closure. The project will clean and paint the steel and include minor steel repairs including repairs to the deck grating and secondary members and approach railing replacement.

The Otselic River boat launch will continue to be open with access from the west side of the bridge via Upper Lisle/Whitney Point Road.
