Broome County Sets-up For Triathlon

BINGHAMTON, NY – Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Broome County Parks and Rec Director Matt Gawors promoted the Broome County Parks Triathlon today at Dorchester Park.

The 12th annual Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday morning, June 24th beginning at 9 A.M. It will feature swimming, biking and running. Registration for the event is closed however members of the public are encouraged to come witness over 160 people participate.

“Over half of the participants are from outside Broome County,” said Garnar. “This is an excellent opportunity to promote our parks in a fun and healthy way.”

The Broome County Parks Triathlon is sponsored in part by the Broome County Triathlon Club, Visions Federal Credit Union, Coughlin and Gerhart, ERA Decker Realty, our local AFL-CIO, Chenango Point Cycles and Gas Lamp Gym.

Additionally, a Youth Triathlon has been added to the schedule. The event is untimed and the participants have the option of choosing a shortened course. It is scheduled to begin at the end of the adult event.


A portion of the day’s proceeds will go to the Broome County Parks Handicapped Children’s Playground Fund.
