Awards $190,000 for Youth Programs in Broome County

(Binghamton, NY) – February 23, 2017 - The Broome County Youth Bureau is pleased to announce the anticipated availability of New York State Office of Children & Family Services Youth Development Funds for calendar year 2017. These funds will be made available by Broome County to those serving the needs of youth in Broome County. Typical grants in the past ranged from $100 to $20,000. This year the Youth Bureau will be awarding up to $190,000 in state aid.
This RFP is being released to solicit proposals from qualified non-profit organizations and municipalities interested in establishing or expanding or continuing programs that will provide services and positive youth development opportunities for youth in our community. Programs can target youth ages 0 – 21 years old. You can find the appropriate documents on the website http://www.gobroomecounty.com/parks
The Youth Bureau is interested in Programs that address the New York State Touchstones. This year, programs must have measurable outcomes and address areas of need. Priorities will be placed with projects that are transformational and collaborative across the county.
As previously communicated, the State no longer will set aside Youth Development Funds specifically for municipalities. Municipalities who wish to be considered for these funds must respond to this RFP.
There a simplified set of forms for those agencies/municipalities that are requesting $5,000 or less, (the EZ5k). The more comprehensive set of forms will be used for those requesting funds in excess of $5,000. All grantees will be required to file various additional reports with the Youth Bureau and be visited by Youth Bureau staff and/or Youth Bureau Advisory Board members.

All applications must be received by the Broome County Youth Bureau no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 9, 2017.
