Broome County Executive Announces Formation of
Shared Services Property Tax Savings Committee
Binghamton, NY (February 3rd, 2017) –Today Broome County Executive Jason Garnar introduced his newly formed Shared Services Property Tax Savings Committee. They will meet over the next several months to discuss Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Shared Services Property Tax Savings Plan outlined in the 2018 NYS Budget. The Committee, facilitated by Binghamton University Professor Kevin Wright, will make recommendations to the County Executive on the initiative.
Per Governor Cuomo’s plan, Garnar will then have to submit a property tax savings plan to the Broome County Legislature by August 1st, 2017. The plan will then go before voters during the general election in November, 2017.
“This is a qualified, bipartisan group of people and I am very pleased they have all agreed to serve on this committee,” said Garnar.
The committee is holding their first meeting Friday, February 3rd and is composed of the following people:
