Broome also hosts a County-wide auction for non-City properties in the fall.

Last year, the County sold 52 properties, making a profit of $1.3 million.

All properties in the auction are sold as is.

“These auctions are great because it gives people a chance to own property and put their own personal touches on them when rehabilitating these abandoned properties, which helps to clean up our neighborhoods,” says Real Property Director Dave Hamlin.

These properties include single family homes, multi-family homes, warehouses, commercial buildings, vacant lots and more.

This weekend, the County will auction off more than 50 properties, all located in the City of Binghamton.

“These property auctions are a win-win for the residents of Broome County,” says County Executive Debbie Preston.  “Not only can someone get into these properties cheaper than they normally would have, these properties now go back on the tax rolls which is a benefit to all Broome County taxpayers.”

Auction bidders must register between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM that morning.

The auction is this Saturday, February 22nd, at the Holiday Inn, Binghamton (2-8 Hawley Street) starting at 10:00 am.
