MEDIA ADVISORY - Great American Weigh In

BINGHAMTON, NY - For the second year in a row the Steps to a Healthier NY Healthy Weight Coalition is teaming up with the American Cancer Society and Weight Watchers to promote the Great American Weigh In. The goals of the Healthy Weight Coalition are to: heighten awareness on how excess weight and an elevated Body Mass Index (BMI) can increase an individual's risk for several chronic diseases, promote healthy behaviors, and link individuals with community organizations and programs that reinforce positive behaviors that can lead to a healthy weight and BMI. Weigh-ins and information about BMI are free and without obligation. Media will have an opportunity to conduct interviews with coalition members and the public.
