Broome County Executive Announces Transportation Commissioner's Resignation

     BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala announced today, Broome County Commissioner of Transportation, Carl Olson, has submitted his letter of resignation. Olson has been with the county for 15 years. He started as an Operations Specialist for the airport. He became Commissioner of Aviation in 1998 and then became Commissioner of Transportation in 2003, adding the oversight of B-C Transit to his responsibilities.

"Carl Olson is a true professional who has guided our airport through some very challenging times." Said Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala. "We are going to miss him and we are going to miss his expertise but we wish him well."

"I am going to miss all of the people I have worked with at both B-C Transit and the Greater Binghamton Airport." Said outgoing Broome County Commissioner of Transportation Carl Olson. "Broome County became my home 15 years ago and my family and I have enjoyed the area so much. However, when the opportunity presented itself for me to move back to the Midwest, where I am originally from, I could not pass it up"

Carl Olson has accepted a position as the Executive Director of the Central Illinois Regional Airport serving Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. He will remain on the job in Broome County until at least the middle of June. County Executive Fiala says a search for Olson's replacement will begin immediately.
