Danielle 5K Run/Walk To Hold Sneaker Collection

     BINGHAMTON, NY - The Broome County STOP-DWI Program and the City of Binghamton Parks and Recreation Department would like to remind the community that there will be a sneaker collection at this year's Danielle 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 2nd at MacArthur Park in Binghamton.

Danielle 5K Run/Walk organizers are encouraging everyone to bring their unwanted but still usable sneakers to the event. The sneakers will then be distributed to area agencies that serve needy youngsters.

Danielle 5K Run/Walk day of registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, May 2nd. The 3 on 3 tourney starts at 9:30 a.m., the 5K Run at 10:00 a.m. and the 5K Walk at 12:30 p.m. There will be plenty of youth and family oriented activities featuring the Discovery Center, Ross Park Zoo and Roberson Museum and Science Center. Festivities will also include music and a full concession.

The Danielle 5K Run/Walk is a joint project between Broome County and the City of Binghamton to promote awareness about the drunk driving problem and raise funds for community STOP-DWI efforts.

Crowley Foods, Inc. will present this year's event. Time Warner Cable, FOX40, WAAL, WILD 104, WBPN, the Broome County STOP-DWI Program and the City of Binghamton Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the Run/Walk.
