Storm Update From Preston & Emergency Services

At approximately 4:30 PM, a line of severe thunderstorms began to impact Broome County. These storms moved across the county from West to East at approximately 50mph, remaining generally south of the Susquehanna River. There were three reported tornado sightings in the southwestern portion of the county, none reported to have touched down.

Broome County Announces Details of Upcoming Honor Flight

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Founder of Twin Tiers Honor Flight Nancy Kane, Broome County Legislators, Commissioner of Aviation David Hickling, sponsors and more to announce details of the upcoming Honor Flight, leaving from the Greater Binghamton Airport.

The flight is scheduled for Saturday, November 12th, and will take off about 7:00 am.

Broome County, City of Binghamton Join Forces to Fight Blight

Binghamton, NY - Broome County Executive Debbie Preston, Broome County Legislature Chairman Daniel J. Reynolds and Binghamton Mayor Richard C. David today announced a first of its kind intergovernmental partnership to fight blight and improve safety in neighborhoods throughout Broome County.

Under the plan, Broome County would sell foreclosed, blighted properties to local municipalities for a nominal fee. The County would also pay for pre-demolition asbestos screenings at the properties.
