Suzann W. Buchta (D) was elected to her first term on the County Legislature in 2004 and re-elected in 2006, and 2008. Her legislative district is primarily comprised of parts of the south side of the Village of Johnson City, Westover, and Oakdale.

Suzann's legislative duties cover a wide area of departments and institutions Broome Community College, Broome County Public Library, Department of Parks and Recreation: Otsinango, Cole, Greenwood, and Dorchester; Veterans Memorial Arena and Forum; Department of Health and  Mental Health: Willow Point Nursing Home; Environmental Protection pertaining to public water and wastewater treatment; Department of Aviation: Greater Binghamton Airport; Department of Public Transportation; all matters pertaining to Rural Development: agriculture, logging, watershed flood protection projects, Soil Water Conservation Service and matters pertaining to oil and gas drilling.

Ms. Buchta is a retired eighth grade teacher who spent thirty-two years teaching locally, with most of those years of service being at the East Middle School in Binghamton, New York. She is a graduate of East Stroudsburg College and has a Bachelor of Science degree in education, major in history and government.
