County Saves $10k By Busting Welfare Fraud

(Binghamton, NY) -- Eleven Broome County residents were arrested for Welfare Fraud in January. The arrests are a result of an on-going Welfare Fraud investigation by the Broome County Security Division.

“Broome County is diligent about cracking down on Welfare Fraud; these arrests are a testament to our tremendous Security Division,” said County Executive Debbie Preston. “These are difficult times for everyone, but those abusing the system must be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she went on to say.

This month they will introduce a resolution to the County Legislature to prohibit the placement of the County Executive’s name on signs that adorn all County Buildings, Parks and Property.
