Senior Safety Day - Northern Broome Senior Center

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Broome County Older Drivers Network will host their 3rd Senior Safety Day on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Northern Broome Senior Center, 12 Strongs Place, Whitney Point. The day’s event will include six safety-related programs starting at 12:30 p.m.   Participating seniors who visit all six programs will receive a free gift. 
Senior Safety Day Programs will include:
  • Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad – Learn the warning signs for stroke and heart attack, when you should call an ambulance and the Yellow Dot Program.
  • Independence Awareness LLC – Find out how to prevent slips and falls – which are the main cause of injury for older persons in the home.
  • New York State Police – Enjoy an outdoor canine demonstration and learn how dogs can help protect the public and aide law enforcement in the field.
  • Broome County STOP-DWI – Medications and driving don’t always mix.  Learn about how prescription medications mixed with alcohol and other drugs can impair safe driving ability. 
  • Evan Shapiro Liberty Mutual – Learn how to be an educated insurance consumer: what to look for on your policy, when to review your coverage and how to make sure your assets and dreams are protected.
  • Broome County Older Drivers Network – Presents Senior Drive, a Driving Wellness Checklist©. Get ready for winter travel with a quick in-vehicle safety assessment as well as a complimentary tire check. Learn how to properly adjust your mirrors, steering wheel, seat belt and much, much more!
