Health and Safety Day

(BINGHAMTON, NY) – The Broome County Health Department will be hosting a Health and Safety Day in their parking lot at 225 Front Street Binghamton, on Saturday, July 27, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The event will include:

  • Free Child Safety Seat Checks - Have your child safety seat checked by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.  Parents and caregivers should bring their child, the car seat, the car seat manual and the vehicle manual.
  • Free Child Safe ID Cards - The Broome County Sheriff's Office will be conducting their Operation Safe Child Program.  These identification cards help assist law enforcement in locating a reported lost or missing child.
  • Broome County STOP-DWI – Experience the effects that alcohol and drugs have on performing simple tasks with Fatal Vision Goggles.
  • New York State Police – Law enforcement will demonstrate the effects of not wearing a seat belt with their roll-over machine. 
  • Magic 101.7 Live Broadcast!
  • Improv Dads - Russ The BIG Guy will be providing kid-friendly entertainment including caricatures and music! 
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension – Learn fun nutrition facts, health snack ideas and how to make smarter food choices at the grocery store. 
  • Broome County WIC Program – Opportunity to speak with staff about new income guidelines along with fun summer activity ideas for children, a Farmer’s Market trivia quiz and fruit/vegetable recipes. Prizes for all who participate!
  • Clinics Division – Receive information about immunizations for all ages.  
  • Environmental Health Division – Receive free information about the Rabies program, Lyme disease, ticks and West Nile Virus. 
This event is made possible by the Broome County Health Department, the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Broome County STOP-DWI, the New York State Police, Magic 101.7, and Improv Dads.
