Broome County Health Department Announces H1N1 Response Activities for Week of December 14, 2009

BINGHAMTON, NYThe Broome County Health Department will be holding an H1N1 vaccination clinic on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. The clinic will be open to anyone 6 months and older and will be held at the health department located at 225 Front Street, Binghamton, New York, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The vaccine is available at no charge. People under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive the vaccine.

Plans to conduct the clinic were made shortly after Governor Patterson announced that the vaccine restrictions were lifted. “The timing couldn’t be better. We are viewing this as a window of opportunity to vaccinate people before the holidays and limit the rate of illness during the next wave of the pandemic,” said Claudia Edwards, Public Health Director for the Broome County Health Department.  “We feel we have maximized our efforts in Broome County to vaccinate those at highest risk for contracting the H1N1 virus and are ready to offer it to others while vaccine supplies last.”
