Broome County Executive Jason Garnar Provides Updates on COVID-19 and Broome County Services

(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) On Thursday, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar was joined by Office and Employment and Training Director Robert Murphy at his briefing on the County’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the Office of Employment and Training is currently closed, there are several online resources residents can use for assistance with finding a job during these unprecedented times. One of those services helps connect job seekers to current openings and provide them with access to online courses.

Garnar also announced that due to COVID-19 precautions the household hazardous waste and electronics recycling drop-off days at the Broome County Landfill will be temporarily suspended until further notice in order to protect the health and safety of our staff and residents.  Please do not throw these materials into the garbage. Hold onto them safely for now and we will send out notification when this program is able to resume. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Also, a reminder that while the Broome County Dog Shelter is closed to the public, there are still several dogs up for adoption and for more information on those you can message them on Facebook or call the shelter at 607-778-2493 and leave a message.
