Founding Member of the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier Added to Broome County’s Wall of Fame

(BINGHAMTON, NY) Broome County Executive Jason Garnar joined the Friends of the Forum today to announce Nancy Hargrave as the next recipient of a star on the Wall of Fame at the Forum Theatre. Hargrave is a founding member of the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier and created the “Story Garden.”

The Discovery Center, located in Binghamton’s historic Ross Park, is a hands-on interactive children’s museum serving the Southern Tier of New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The exhibits, themes and ambiance are community specific, yet leave a wide margin for global discovery. The award-winning Story Garden outdoor exhibit space was opened in 2007.

Hargrave has been a teacher and mentor at the Discovery Center for 30+ years. She was the creator of the story garden where she continues to implement changes and additions as it has blossomed into a popular New York State attraction. Hargrave was also a New York State Teacher of the Year finalist.

You can see all the stars on display in the lobby of the Forum Theatre.
