Announces Cancellation of Small Community Grants and Diversion of Funds
On Friday, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar announced the cancellation of the Small Community Grant Program for the year 2020. The decision was made together with Legislature Chairman Daniel J. Reynolds.
Cancelling the grant program will free up $150,000 which will be used for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical supplies. Specifically, the County will look to purchase:
• 50,000 N-95 masks
• 250,000 surgical masks
• 15,000 face shields
• 15,000 gowns
• 75,000 gloves
• 12 infrared thermometers
• Additional testing supplies
