Prescription Drop Off at County Office Building

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Broome County Sheriff David Harder to announce that a prescription drop box has been placed in the lobby of the Broome County Office Building.

People are encouraged to drop old, outdated prescription medications into the box to make sure they are disposed of properly and that they stay out of the hands of children and teenagers.

“I want to thank Sheriff Harder for starting this initiative,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.  “We want to make sure the wrong people are not getting their hands on these prescription medications.”

“We must all do our part to make sure these drugs do not make it onto our streets, or into the hands of young children,” says Broome County Sheriff David Harder.

People will be encouraged to drop off any prescription medications with no questions asked. Needles will not be accepted.

The box in the Broome County Office building will be available so people can drop off prescription drugs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

There is also a box in the lobby of the Broome County Sheriff’s office and is available for drop off from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to fight the war on drugs,” says Sheriff Harder.  “The prescription drugs that are dropped off will be disposed of properly by trained professionals.”
