New Networking Group Targets Professionals

(BINGHAMTON, NY)   Professionals seeking employment opportunities can receive additional help from a new “networking group” formed by Broome Tioga Workforce New York.The Professional Opportunity Developers (POD) Broome-Tioga Networking Group will meet for an organizational meeting Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The initial meeting will be held at the Broome Tioga Workforce office located at 171 Front Street in Binghamton.

This group will be made up of a diverse group of unemployed engineers, managers and other professionals, who will share job leads, job search techniques, networking ideas and have the opportunity to hear various local speakers discuss a variety of employment related topics. Interested professionals can contact the Workforce New York office at 607-778-2136 to sign-up.
“Joining a networking group can be a great way to get new ideas to find employment,” according to Terry R. Stark, Director of the Broome Tioga Workforce Investment Board. “Networking groups have provided many persons with the support they need to overcome obstacles and become better job candidates,” Stark said.
Broome-Tioga Workforce New York operates two One Stop Centers to provide local residents with employment assistance and career advice. The centers also assist local businesses with recruiting and training.  Workforce New York offices are located in Binghamton, and at the Tioga County Human Services building located on Route 38 in Owego.
Broome-Tioga Workforce is a unique partnership between Tioga and Broome Counties and the regional business community to help businesses recruit and retain talented workers, assess and respond to current and future workforce needs, and help individuals obtain rewarding career opportunities.
