Broome County Security Completes Welfare Fraud Sweep

Seeks to recover $25,340.66 in overpayments

(Binghamton, NY) The Broome County Security Case Integrity Unit recently completed a welfare fraud sweep. During their investigation, twenty individuals were issued tickets to appear in court for various charges involving welfare fraud. The security division identified over $25,000 dollars in payments illegally received by recipients. 

 
Last week the following individuals appeared in City of Binghamton Court:
 
-         Marilyn Alger (DOB: 8/5/44) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $810.00 in Food Stamp benefits from Sept. 2007 to August 2008 by failing to report husband in the household and receiving Social Security benefits. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Jessica Hetzlein (DOB: 5/6/82) of Endicott  received an overpayment of $2483.02 in Public Assistance, Food Stamp and Medicaid benefits from July 2008 to Sept. 2008 by failing to report accurate employment. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Christine Durham (DOB: 5/23/57) of  Binghamton received an overpayment $1006.00 in Public Assistance benefits from June 2008 – August 2008 by failing to report accurate income from Unemployment Insurance Benefits. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Tammy Momoh (DOB: 6/23/77) of Binghamton 13904 received an overpayment of $713.00 in Food Stamp benefits from August 2008 to Dec. 2008 by applying for and receiving benefits for a child that did not reside in her household. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Gwendolyn Hargus (DOB: 12/18/79) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $1398.00 in Food Stamp Benefits by failing to report accurate income for a household member. Charged with Welfare Fraud 4th Degree.
-         Tasheka Survilla (DOB: 6/10/79) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $349.00 in Public Assistance benefits from Feb. 2008 to May 2008 by failing to report accurate income. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Christine Bell (DOB: 12/21/78) of  Binghamton received an overpayment of $678.00 in Food Stamp benefits from Jan. 2007 to June 2007 by failing to report employment. Charged with Welfare Fraud 5th Degree.
-         Lorraine Vaughn (DOB: 12/1/49) of Endicott received an overpayment of $1296.00 in Food Stamp benefits from April 2008 to Sept. 2008 by failing to report employment for husband. Charged with Welfare Fraud 4th Degree.
-         Tammi Wells (DOB: 9/10/59) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $1095.19 in Public Assistance and Medicaid benefits from Oct. 2008 to Dec. 2008 by failing to report employment. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Quashaia Oranchak (DOB: 4/11/87) of Binghamton submitted a Public Assistance application and failed to report a vehicle. Charges with Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree.
-         Sarah Livermore (DOB: 7/3/82) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $492.00 in Public Assistance and Food Stamp benefits from Sept. 2008 to Nov. 2008 by continuing to receive benefits for a child no longer in the household. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Matthew Hibbard (DOB: 8/24/57) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $412.00 in Food Stamp benefits from Sept. 2008 to Oct. 2008 by failing to report Social Security benefits. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Milca Rivera (DOB: 8/17/60) of  Binghamton received an overpayment of $1551.00 in Food Stamp benefits from July 2008 to Dec. 2008 by failing to report household member employed. Charged with Welfare Fraud 4th Degree.
-         Michelle Majka (DOB: 10/15/52) of Endicott received an overpayment of $611.00 in Food Stamp benefits from May 2008 to August 2008 by failing to report employment. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Kristina Doty (DOB: 2/22/74) of  Binghamton received an overpayment of $839.13 in Food Stamp benefits by accessing benefits issued to another recipient. Charged with Misuse of Food stamps in violation of Social Services Law section 147.
-          Paul Bronson (DOB: 1/29/59) of Kirkwood received an overpayment of $324.00 in Food Stamp benefits from June 2008 to July 2008 by failing to report employment. Charged with Welfare Fraud in violation of Social Services Law section 145.
-         Andre Callender (DOB: 9/3/68) of  Binghamton 13903 received an overpayment of $3797.37 in Public Assistance and Medicaid benefits from Oct. 2004 to Dec. 2008 by failing to report employment. Charged with Welfare Fraud 3rd Degree.
-         Valarie Kennedy (DOB: 1/18/81) resides at: address unknown. Received an overpayment of $2768.00 in Public Assistance benefits from April 2008 to July 2008 by providing forged information regarding shelter expenses. Charged with Welfare Fraud 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree.
-         Dana Lindow (DOB: 11/18/55) of Glen Aubrey did submit a false Food Stamp application and a forged information regarding address. Charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree.
-         Valencia Rowe (DOB: 11/3/74) of Binghamton received an overpayment of $4717.95 in Food Stamp and Medicaid benefits from Nov. 2005 to Nov. 2008 by failing to report deposits into bank account. Charged with Welfare Fraud 3rd Degree.
