Broome County Executive Debbie Preston Signs 2013 Budget Into Law


(Binghamton, NY) – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston Wednesday evening signed the Broome County Budget for Fiscal Year 2013 into law, following a public hearing.
“I’m extremely proud of our 2013 Budget with a 0% tax increase,” said Preston. “Broome County taxpayers cannot afford a penny more in taxes and this Budget reflects smart planning, efficient government and important services for our residents. Broome County residents can expect to see recurring savings throughout the years due to the important cost-saving measures we implemented this year.”
The $365,838,674 spending plan was adopted by the Broome County Legislature on November 8th. A public hearing was held on November 14th for residents to speak on amendments made by the Legislature at the November 8th meeting.
“I would like to thank Chairman Jerry Marinich, Majority Leader Wayne Howard and Minority Leader Mark Whalen for their feedback during this process, as we deliver the best possible Budget for the residents of Broome County,” noted Preston.
The 2013 Broome County Budget takes effect on January 1st, 2013.
