Broome County STOP-DWI Program Coordinates Labor Day DWI Checkpoints

Labor Day checkpoints and patrols run August 16 - September 2, 2013

(Binghamton, NY) The Broome County STOP-DWI Program today announced that law enforcement agencies across Broome County will deploy special DWI enforcement patrols to help ensure that our roadways will be safe during the Labor Day holiday. For the first six months of 2013, over 280 drivers have been arrested for DWI on Broome County highways.

The STOP-DWI Crackdown is comprised of several crackdown periods promoted by the New York State STOP-DWI Association. These efforts are supported with funding from both the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the National Highway Traffic Safety Institute.
“We encourage people to get out and enjoy their summer activities responsibly and to remember if you plan on consuming alcohol, have a plan to and from your destination using a designated driver, taxi, or by walking. Whatever you do, just don’t drive,” said Chris Marion, Broome County STOP-DWI Program Coordinator.
