13th Annual STOP-DWI Tournament of Champions at BAGSAI

Tournament features 85 girls softball teams playing at 5 locations across the county

(Binghamton, NY) Over one thousand female athletes will compete this weekend in the 13th Annual STOP-DWI Tournament of Champions at the BAGSAI softball complex in the Town of Dickinson. The tournament will feature 67 Class “A” and Gold 18-under fast pitch teams and 18 16-under teams from throughout the United States.

Ever since its inaugural year in 2001, the tournament has received many accolades from the attending teams and top college coaches. The STOP-DWI Tournament of Champions is rapidly becoming one of the top college exposure tournaments in the country.

“We are very pleased to host a tournament of this caliber in our community,” said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston. “Our community welcomes the players, fans and coaches to Greater Binghamton and we appreciate their support of local businesses.”

On Thursday, July 11th over 250 players will participate in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) exposure camp held at Chenango Forks High School. Athletes will be tested on their skills in fielding and batting. Over 100 college coaches are expected to attend the college NFCA exposure camp.

Tournament play begins Friday July 12th at 11:00 a.m. and continues through Sunday, July 14th when the championship game is scheduled at 5:15 p.m. The tournament holds games at BAGSAI softball complex, Schnurbusch Park in Conklin, Veterans River Park and 5-Mile Point Park in Kirkwood and Jackson Park in the Town of Binghamton.
